It all started one winter’s day. Tony told Nick about a blog he used to run called “It Tastes Like Applesause” and how he would write movie reviews. Tony hadn’t worked on it in a long while but Nick thought this was an excellent idea and went on a search for a blog hosting site. Little did Nick know that Tony had done the same, looking to start fresh. And so the two made seperate blogs, one discussing video games and the other movies.

The two discussed their blogs for over a month before lightning struck and they decided they were both morons for nothing thinking of it sooner… Put the two site together! And thus Barrel Roll News Network was born.

We here at Barrel Roll News review video games and movies. We also try to keep you entertained during the week with things we find on the net as well as keeping you informed though our YouTubbe Channel.

Every Friday we film our NewsCast and News show and get them posted by Saturday for you to read. As for entertainment we have Humpday Humour every Wednesday and Sunday Afternoon Time Waster every Sunday. We also have our Question of the Week which goes up Mondays on the site and Facebook.

Nick’s weekly video game review goes up every Tuesday and Tony’s weekly movie reviews go up Fridays, those are guaranties. But Tony, Nick and Graham all review games and movies, they just aren’t scheduled.

Other than that we aim to have fun and we hope to pass a bit of that on to you!

What’s in a name? For Tony and Nick about a month of discussion. When the two decided to combined their sites a quest began to find a name. They wanted something memorable, something that people could laugh at or discuss. They also wanted to leave it open in case more people wanted to join them (which they did). Both of them made lists and it came down to two words from each one, “Barrel Roll” (as in “Do a Barrel Roll, Fox!”) and “News Network” (to define what we did and that we would one day become a network of people).

It seems so simple now, but back when we got started it was a journey.

And why BrNN for short? Well BNN was already taken (Business News Network) and BRNN looks funny when you’re trying to make a logo, so the “R” went into the “B” and to show that in short form it turns into BrNN. Plus it makes us stand out, which is something we like to do!
